Taxonomic note:

A junior subjective synonym of Omphaletis ethiopica Hampson, 1909; synonymized by H. Hacker (2022: 202). Had been sunk as a subspecies of Melipotis melanodonta Hampson, 1896 by E. P. Wiltshire (1979: 63).
