Had been synonymized by Polyptychus digitatus Karsch, 1891 by Kernbach (1957: 188); reinstated as a species and transferred to Polyptychoides by C. L. Carcasson (1968: 24); returned to Polyptychus by J. Pierre (2001a: 263); see further I. Kitching (2017: website).
