Taxonomic note:

A junior subjective synonym of Geometra janata Linnaeus, 1758; synonymized by G. F. Hampson (1913d: 332). Noctua melicerta Drury, 1773 is an Asiatic species which does not occur in Africa (A. Legrain, i.l. 30.x.2016).
