Taxon remarks:Type genus: Geometra Linnaeus, 1758. Systema Naturae (Edition 10) 1: 519. GEOMETRIDA Leach, [1815], in Brewster’s Edinburgh Ency., 9(1): 134 (type genus: Geometra Linnaeus, 1758) (an incorrect original spelling for GEOMETRIDAE Leach, [1815]) Opinion 450 (08 March 1957). The information on the author and the year of description of Geometridae presented in Rajaei et al. 2022: https://doi.org/10.18476/2022.577933, in Appendix 1) is erroneous. The reference to the authorship as Stephens, 1829 is misleading. This Opinion presents Leach, [1815] as the author of the taxon Geometridae.
