Taxonomic note:

Sometimes recorded as Botys octoguttalis Felder & Rogenhofer, 1875 (e.g. R. Paulian & P. Viette 1956: 183), an Oriental species [Indonesia (Moluccas)], which has been misidentified; all Afrotropical records refer to Prophantis smaragdina (Butler, 1875).
