The distribution is restricted to South Africa (see A. Volynkin & G. M. László 2020a: 333). All records from other countries, either as rejecta or as bipunctigera, refer to different Cyana species; e.g. Druce 1887: 495, Butler, 1898: 418, Hampson 1900a: 326,1909c: 105, Pagenstecher 1903: 13, Strand 1912m: 188, 1922a: 748, Paulian & Viette (1956: 251), Kiriakoff 1963a: 98, Pinhey 1975: 163, Karisch 2013: 84.
