An objective replacement name for Polyptychus modestum Bernardi, 1970. Had been synonymized with Polyptychus affinis by J.-M. Cadiou & I. Kitching (2001: 35). Implicitly reinstated as a species by J. Pierre (2014: 226), but reverted to the synonymy with Polyptychus affinis by Th. Bouyer & I. J. Kitching (2023: 99).
