The records of Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Gambia (G. F. Hampson 1905a: 531) refer to Leucania joannisi Boursin & Rungs, 1952 (see Ch. Boursin & Ch. Rungs 1952: 393–394, R. Paulian & P. Viette 1956: 211, P. Viette 1963a: 182). The records of DR Congo (S. Kiriakoff 1954e: 47), Zambia (G. F. Hampson 1910 c: 403), and São Tomé (A. E. Prout 1927: 202) refer to Leucania punctulata (A. Legrain i.l. 11.xi.2024).
