Taxonomic note:

Had been synonymized with Polyptychopsis marshalli marshalli by Bridges (1993: 20); reinstated as a subspecies of Polyptychopsis marshalli by I. Kitching & J.-M. Cadiou (2000: 62); raised to species status and retransferred to Polyptychus by J. Pierre (2014: 225).
